My husband got charged with assault but he didn’t assault me. It was a drunk argument and I ran to the neighbours and they called the police. Now victims services said they are going ahead and charging him and court is December 10th. I wrote the crown several emails asking them to drop it as nothing happened but they refused to answer and are proceeding with the charges. There was an incident in 2014 with the two of us where there was an assault but that went away because it was discharged.

Even though you do not wish to press charges for assault, since your husband was already fingerprinted by the police he must appear in court and defend his case.  Hopefully, the assault charges will be dropped or dismissed or withdrawn but if he is found guilty then he will have a criminal conviction for assault and will have to stay out of trouble with the police for a period of five years in order to be eligible for a pardon.
