I just completed my EMA First Responder training and they require a criminal back check. I am completing the form and it asked if I had ever been convicted of a crime. I was convicted of a crime – theft under $200 over 40 years ago.

I recall getting a pardon years later but I have no record of this and I want to make sure the pardon is in place on my record.

If you did not get a pardon then the forty year old theft under offence will still show up on a criminal check or RCMP file or CPIC.  If the pardon was granted then it will not show up.  You can also try calling the Parole Board of Canada to see if they have any record of your pardon from decades ago.
