Me and my boyfriend got into an argument and police were called by family because they thought he abused me which he didn’t but he’s being charged with domestic assault and he is away at work at the moment and he’s not sure if he’ll make it back in time for his court date on August 18th.  I was the one who told the police that he abused me but actually he didn’t.  I was just scared and didn’t know what to say or do at the time. We would like to get the charges dropped, and plus the police have no physical proof that he even touched me just what I told them which was a lie.  What can me and him do in this situation?

This is not an uncommon situation.  When a couple gets heated and the police are called, they typically will charge one or both of you for assault.  Usually if you do not wish to proceed with the charges then they will be dismissed, or withdrawn in court and maybe a peace bond will be given as a punishment.  However, he must appear at court and he would have gotten fingerprinted by the police.  Once he is printed, we will need to get the prints removed in order for your boyfriend to be safe for work and travel in the future.
