I am confused about the eligibility for a pardon when it comes to sexual offences in Schedule 1. Does this just pertain to sexual assault against a minor? I know someone that was convicted of possession of child pornography and hopes to get a pardon soon. We have reviewed the exception form and it pertains to the offender actually touching or being near the victim. As this was a computer crime and this person was not in direct contact with a minor would he be able to get a pardon? Please advise

Most sexual offences against a minor are not pardonable as of March 2012 when the Conservative government changed the pardons rules.  However, if you live in Ontario or BC and the offence was prior to March 2012 then you may be eligible for a pardon under the old rules.  Sexual offences against victims over 18 are pardonable, usually after ten years from the end of the punishment.
